Debbie Wilmot, legal partner at Wilmot, Hogarth & Co, moved back to the Rock a year ago after practising in the British Virgin Islands for the better part of 10 years. She's enjoying vino at Bin 26 and expressing how much of a loyalist she is and her passion for Jamaica.
What are you sipping?
A glass of pinot noir.
What kind of day are you having?
A pretty relaxed day; went into the office, not too much on my desk to take up my time, so I left early.
Socialite or homebody?
I'm a bit of both; sometimes I like to stay home and have drinks, or watch movies with my friends.
TV or good book?
A little bit of both.
What are you watching?
My favourite thing to watch is CBS Sunday Morning.
Jeans or LBD?
That depends on where I'm going: if I'm casual, it's jeans; if I want to make a statement, it's an LBD.
Flats or stilettos?
Flats, if I'm around town; stilettos if I'm out on the town.
What's your style?
Fashionable with a hint of the unusual.
What's in your handbag?
My BlackBerry, business cards and keys.
Who does your hair?
My stylist is Michelle Housen who works from home; for me, the key to really great hair is a good cut from Jackie Fisher and Joan Russel.
Who does your nails?
I usually do them myself.
Where's the best place to find you?
If I'm not here at Bin 26, I'm having pizza at Raffaele's!
What perfume are you spraying?
Bvlgari.
What's your idea of the perfect date?
I think if you have really good food, salsa dancing, and that's it... I'm a girl of simple pleasures.
What's your idea of the perfect man?
No one's perfect; it's more important for the person to be compatible with you.
What's your latest obsession?
Buying plants for my house.
What's in your car stereo?
An audio book called The Colour of Water by James McBride.
What's most rewarding about being a lawyer?
Researching a novel legal point.
Who will you be expecting great things from in 2011?
I'm expecting great things from my business partner.
What projects are you working on?
What I spend most of my time doing is building my practice, which is still pretty new, so I'll spend my time doing that. And I'm thinking about how I can assist in continuing to build the local tourism product as a means of creating more jobs. I believe Jamaica can be so much greater than it currently is, and I'm caught up with thinking about how I can help in achieving our full potential as a nation.
What's the best piece of advice you've been given?
To be myself at all times.
What's your New Year's mantra?
Try to be healthy; I went to the gym four times this week, so that's working out so far (laughs).
